SAN DIEGO, CA – 1,100 sq. ft. design for a retail store of high quality Italian contemporary furniture, furnishing, accessories and accouterments. Full scope interior design services were provided from space planning, finish selections and specifications to lighting design and custom detailing through permitting and construction. A stratified air distribution system was accomplished using a raised floor with air diffusers in order to have a more efficient operating HVAC system and improve air quality.

Ambition: Compliment contemporary Italian designed products and materials in a small intimate sales environment with finishes, design elements and lighting as a backdrop for the displayed retail items.

Accomplishment: Minimal fixed constructions were used to allow flexibility and easy reconfiguration of the floor plan, as well as rotation of products and display areas. Exposed structural deck with suspended track lighting was painted a dark color to minimize exposed overhead utilities. Simple architectural elements, such as floating back lighted panels, sloped walls for recessed display and a demonstration counter of grey panels and countertop of a red quartz solid surface material.  This provided a sleek surface for display of product as well as serving space for food and drink for the many special tasting events.  The overall simple sophisticated design of the space reinforced the contemporary furnishings and accessories known as Italian Design.
